I had so much fun putting together the panels of this bag. My work desk always ends up looking like the most beautiful chaotic mess when I am working on something, all the little bits of fabrics, tools, stones and papers I have lying around often combine themselves in ways that please me. I always wanted to capture that in a piece. A functional piece of art.
I think the beauty of my eco print scraps really got to be expressed in their best form in this piece. Each panel is its own unique expression. I look forward to making more bags like this one.
It is lined with a super soft, prewashed cotton muslin, and includes a tiny pocket for your little doodads. The pocket is a patchwork piece with two intersecting lines of embroidered stitches running through them. I top stitched each edge which brings more structure to the outside of the bag and gives it that very boxy appearance that I happen to like for rice bags.
I used a plain cotton cord for the drawstrings, the ends of each are knotted off with beautiful, grounding agate beads. I offset them as to not clank too much, but rather to occasionally bless your ears with the subtle sounds of stones clanking.
Check out my other rice bags, each is unique and beautiful! A truly special home for any of your precious belongings to travel or be stored in.
