This is a gorgeous hand stitched pouch made with a 100% Kona cotton that I botanically printed with an iron mordant, giving it an array of lovely purple dogwood, blackberry, willow herb, and bitter dock root impressions.
I lined it with a soft black Tencel twill fabric and sewed in a cotton twill tape drawstring for securing the bag. I stitched with a cotton hand-quilting thread around various dogwood and blackberry leaves. I also made a very pretty accent embroidery design on the back, where I took a little scrap of pink silk dupioni and stitched it down using a couching stitch, and surrounded it with a blanket stitch. For this bag I decided to make a little fabric collage composition in the center of the circle. I used a scrap silk noil, and sewed on a mother of pearl chip bead and pendant.
I think this bag would make a great little travel makeup bag or a pencil pouch! It is quilted with a layer of flannel for structure and a little extra padding for your items!
